About

My focus will be on the quality of life in our community, public safety, business development, and a voice for our youth.

ABOUT CYNTHIA CONTRERAS

Firstly, I’ve been a Santa Ana resident for over 25 years. I’m a person of faith, a homeowner, and married with four children. My children attended Jefferson Elementary, El Sol, OCEAA, MacArthur Intermediate, McFadden Intermediate, Mater Dei, and Segerstrom High School.

Secondly, I’ve volunteered for numerous organizations and events over the last 22 years. I’ve volunteered for such organizations as PTSO and Student Site Council. I’ve chaperoned on choir trips, track meets, Football Boosters, and at one point, a D.C. trip for McFadden Intermediate. I’ve been a team parent for little League Baseball and AYSO. All of it was meant to draw me closer to not only my children but the parents who support their children in all their endeavors as well.

Thirdly, I’ve taught parenting classes in Spanish on a weekly basis for two years. I was a mentor to Project Pride and was part of the transformation of Minnie Street (Cornerstone Village), a collaboration between Community Policing, landlords, and the city.

MY CAREER HAS EQUIPPED ME TO BE YOUR COUNCILMEMBER.

I have worked at the city, county, state, and federal levels. Moreover, this experience is important to understand how to allocate resources that will improve our quality of life. Streetcar racing, blighted strip malls, and cracked and potted streets are unacceptable in Santa Ana. An investment in code enforcement is necessary as we listen to our Neighborhood Association leadership who must know about our needs.

Public safety is crucial to keeping our community safe.

We must invest in community policing and use best practices to bridge relationships between the community and police officers. We must provide relevant training and partnerships between our specialized police units, mental health experts, and social services teams to create better outcomes. During this COVID pandemic, we must provide innovative ways to support our small businesses while welcoming responsible developers who will help us take our city into the next century by providing housing that inspires a path to homeownership.

In conclusion, I commit to being a voice for all with honesty, transparency, and accountability! I will bring the right people to the table who know how to get things done!
